Trefoil (18th Century)

Conservation

Materials: antique & flashed glass, hand-painted glass, 3/16” round lead

Definitely from Europe, this panel style is very English from the 19th or early 20th century. The client had it leaning up in a window and an opinionated cat thought it would look better on the floor.
Definitely more of a conservation job than restoration, we were tasked with stabilizing it in order to be viewed again, by:

  • replacing 2 red & 3 green pieces

  • edge bonding all remaining cracks & filling where necessary

  • soldering all broken joints to add greater stability

Though we are fans of all animals, we included some heavy duty museum style wax for the client to equal the playing field with their pet for future displays.
