SF Victorian Triptych
Residential Conservation
Materials: pressed conical glass jewels, 1/8” & 3/32” lead, textured/pressed & streaky colored glass, wood frame
This floral, stained glass triptych from a 19th century San Francisco residence was in imminent structural failure. Safely adhering to Cal/OSHA safety guidelines, the panels were removed. At the studio, they were completely taken apart, including salvaging all original broken pieces. Old, unsympathetic repairs plus missing glass were replaced and the panels were rebuilt with lead the same profile as the original. They were then reinstalled with custom, wooden stops for additional stability.
