Residential Conservation

Materials: multicolored glass from Wissmach and Lamberts Glass, 1/8”, 1/4”, 1/2”, 5/8” lead came, 50/50 lead tin solder, Atlas wonder putty, Rust-o-leum paint.

 

This custom residential window was constructed using all hand-cut glass, sourced from Lamberts Glass and Wissmach. The panel was leaded using the false points technique. 1/2" flat, 3/8" round, 1/8" semi round, 1/4 round, and 5/8" round lead came was used in the field, and a 5/8" offset and 1/2" doubled hearted lead came was used was used for the border.

All textured glass was positioned on the interior, and a special beveled glass piece was used on the negative space of the nine. After the leading was completed, the panel was soldered and puttied by hand. The panel features one 1/2" flat rebar which was painted with gray corrosion resistant paint. The panel underwent a final clean and polishing before installation at the client's residence.
