Original damage to this lamp occurred when the client’s residence had a fire. It was returned to the studio 10 years later when it was damaged in transit to a new location.

Both times the lamp was damaged in the same area – the top was contoured inwards and one arm base was bent. The first conservation campaign involved reshaping the lamp base arm, as well as creating a custom steel jig upon which the lamp top could be placed during treatment. The lamp top was gently maneuvered back into shape over a course of months to avoid further damage to the original materials.

During the second campaign, the top again had to be reshaped, with a whole section removed, re-foiled and attached. The electrical wiring was also updated.
